Diploma in Pharmacy or D. Pharm, is a 2-yr full-time diploma course divided into 4 semesters. The course has been designed to prepare candidates to work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in hospitals, community pharmacies, and other pharmaceutical related fields.The course is designed to familiarize candidates with the basic concepts of pharmaceutical science. D.Pharm to prepare students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge required for entry-level positions in retail pharmacies as well as pharmaceutical companies.
A Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm) is a 4 year undergraduate degree in the field of pharmacy. This degree is a prerequisite for registration to practice as a pharmacist. The course trains students to understand the properties and impacts of medicines and developing the skills required to counsel patients about their use. B Pharm holders can work in several fields such as being a pharmacist, patient counselling, doing further studies such as master's degree, working in a university as a lecturer, or working as a drug information specialist. After the completion of this degree, the students can practice as a Pharmacist. Pharmacists can work in a range of industries related to the prescription, manufacture & provision of medicines.

There is huge job scope for this course as there is a huge demand for M.Pharm Graduates. A doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) is a professional doctorate in pharmacy. In some countries, it is a first professional degree and a prerequisite for licensing to practice the profession of pharmacy or to become a clinical pharmacist. In many countries, Pharm.D Graduates are allowed to practice independently and can prescribe drugs directly to patients. A Pharm.D program has significant experiential or clinical education components in introductory and advanced levels for the safe and effective use of drugs.
The Togari Veeramallappa Memorial College of Pharmacy, Ballari was started in 1985 by the V.V.Sangha to provide the teaching and training facilities for the students to take examination in Diploma in Pharmacy. Later, this College started B. PHARM course in 1991 and M. PHARM course in Pharmaceutics in 2011. Sensing the great demand for pharmacists serving in Hospitals, clinical, nursing homes, regulatory agencies, clinical trials this College started a six years PHARM D. course in 2011.
This College building with built up area about 40,000 Sq.ft. is well equipped with spacious laboratories, class rooms, well furnished voluminous library and other facilities to nurture the young minds. All the courses are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bangalore, and are approved by the Pharmacy Council of India and All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.
