General Nursing and Midwifery or GNM is a three-year and six month (including internship) diploma programme designed for aspirants who want to pursue a career in clinical nursing. The programme teaches candidates how to care for individuals who are sick or have been injured in order to help them attain full recovery. Although the curriculum design of the course varies from university to university, GNM courses are designed to prepare the students for clinical approach of handling patients. The curriculum of some universities includes a six-month internship at the end of the course and the diploma is granted only after the candidates complete this internship.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) is a 4 years undergraduate medical programme. Nursing education is monitored by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), the programme focus on developing critical care, advanced thinking skills, proficiency and values necessary for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery. The programme prepares students to become responsible citizens by following a code of moral values and conduct at all times while fulfilling personal, social and professional responsibilities. B. Sc. Nursing programme involves classroom study, projects and assignments that enable students to gain practical knowledge of their learning. After the completion of the course, the students compulsorily need to do a six-month internship to experience real-world clinical settings and learn from them.
Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (P.B.B. Sc.) is a 2 years undergraduate program pursued for candidates interested by the sector of Nursing. A certified RN (Registered Nurse) is capable of administering preventive, primitive, curative, and rehabilitative offerings to sufferers and communities at large.
M. Sc Nursing is a postgraduate path in theories and principles of nursing and allied sciences. A candidate has to be a B.Sc. / B.Sc. (Hons) graduate in Nursing from a recognized university with a view to be eligible for this path.
